Natural Born Winners is brimming with information and common sense advice on how to become a successful winner.

Sieger defines success as the gradual realization of goals. The more goals achieved, the more confidence increases to move on to bigger goals.

Success isn’t blind luck but created opportunities. Winners don’t just hope that they might succeed someday. They are sure in the belief that they will succeed.

It’s this steadfast belief that helps people hang in there when times get tough. Setbacks are not seen as obstacles but as challenges to learn from. Some might use setbacks as an excuse to give up, while others press on with perseverance.

According to Natural Born Winners by Robin Sieger (Random House Group, 2000, ISBN: 0099280930), there are four natural principles for success.

A Clear Goal

Goals don’t have to be set in stone or extremely detailed to be successful. Questions to ask are where, when, why and whether they’re achievable and realistic. Achieving short-term goals is good to keep the momentum going in between long-term goals.

A Definite Plan

How is the goal going to be achieved? The plan needs to be clear but it should still be flexible so that changes can be made if necessary.

Confidence

Experience is the best way to grow confidence. Both successes and failures are good experience because having a history of overcoming obstacles increases confidence.

No Fear of Failure

If fear of failure is allowed to take over, it could stop someone from trying. Ironically it's the repeated failures that eventually lead to success.

  • Since everyone has different abilities, it’s not productive to compare. It’s not good for anyone’s self image nor does it help his or her ability to achieve. What motivates someone is unique to that individual so it’s best to include motivators that are custom made for each person.

There’s a fascinating and detailed chapter about the brain and its capabilities, structure and maintenance. The maintenance it mainly refers to is proper nutrition. If high fat is bad for the blood, it’s bad for the brain.

The last chapter in Natural Born Winners is called new beginnings and it addresses seven aspects that are essential to work on and keep balanced. They include self, health, diet, exercise, attitude, relationships, spirit, career and wealth. The importance of having a sense of humor is stressed along with advice on how to solve problems creatively.
